What is the Proper Ventilation for a Server Cage?

Hot Aisle/Cold Aisle Containment: 

This is the gold standard for server cage ventilation. It separates the hot air exhaust from servers (hot aisle) from the cool air intake (cold aisle) using physical barriers like partitions or air curtains. This creates a directed airflow path, ensuring servers draw in cool air and efficiently expel hot air.

Airflow Direction: 

Cool air should ideally enter the front of the server racks and flow through them, exiting from the back where the hot air exhaust is located. This creates a front-to-back airflow pattern that aligns with most server intake and exhaust configurations.

Adequate Cooling Capacity: 

The cooling system (AC unit or specialized computer room air handler) needs to have enough capacity to remove the heat generated by the servers. This depends on factors like server load and ambient temperature. Regular monitoring and adjustments might be required.
